Graphic novels are an easy way to stay on top of your collection, if you don't have the time to visit your local comic shop once a week this is the format for you.
Every 6 to 8 months or so all the major publishers collect up the latest story arcs and release them as a trade paper back. These are often incorrectly called graphic novels. A graphic novel is an original story published for the first time in bound book format; a trade paper back is a collection of monthly issues usually collected together in story arcs making it easier for people to collect and read stories in one sitting.
Marvel and DC and Other Graphic Novel New Releases
Companies such as Marvel, DC Comics, Image, IDW Publishing Dark Horse tend to follow the end of a story arc in the monthly comic format with a very quick release of a trade paper back version collecting up all the required issues, making it easier for the reader to keep up to date.
